Paine Grande Shelter and Campground

The shelter is located on the banks of the Pehoé Lake in the area of the old shelter Pehoé, off the south side of Cerro Paine Grande. It is part of the W circuit, and it is the ultimate base camp of Torres del Paine. It is a strategic place in the park, which is only accessible through the lake or walking the hiking trails.

Shelter

The building can accommodate 100 hikers in 22 dormitory rooms with bunks for 6, 4 and 2 people. These rooms have a beautiful view of the Pehoé Lake, heights of Paine Grande, Valle del Francés or the east side of the Cuernos del Paine.

Bathrooms are shared, with wash basins, toilets and independent showers with hot water for men and women.

It also provides safekeeping service and a safe to store valuables.

Restaurant

The shelter has a restaurant that offers american breakfast, lunch and an open buffet for dinner, drinks, beers and wines. For those who plan a day-walk can order lunch boxes the day before. In addition, you can enjoy a coffee accompanied by excellent sandwiches.

Bar

On the first floor above the dining room is located the bar "Paine Grande", the ideal place to plan the next trek during the stay in Torres del Paine National Park. With a superb view of the Pehoé Lake and los Cuernos del Paine the bar is the place where hikers meet at the end of the day to enjoy a pisco sour or wine from a wide selection from the wine cellar.
Open from 4 to 12pm.

Lounges

Equipped with slow combustion heating and comfortable chairs to relax and enjoy the view of the landscape.

Here you can buy souvenirs, clothes, food and drinks.

There is a grocery store with everything you need for your meals, snacks and basic supplies.

Refuge

This is a public area to seek shelter from the weather.

Rentals

The campsite Vértice Paine Grande has tents, sleeping bags and mats to rent, which must be reserved in advance.

General Conditions

Made Bed

Accommodation service in bunk beds, in mixed shared rooms, which includes a mattress cover, pillow, sheets and blanket.

Full Board

It consists of dinner service on the day of arrival, breakfast and lunch or box lunch the next day. It is delivered to the shelter and cannot be divided between sectors or different contracted shelters. In this way, if the reservation includes Food Services in different shelters, these will be charged as separate services, despite not being consumed in their entirety.

Option for vegetarian or similar diets is offered, with indication in the reservation. Regarding food allergies or intolerance restrictions, it is also important that you inform us in advance to see feasibility. 30 days advance notice is requested.

Commercial Conditions

Cancellation Policies

Cancellations with 91 days or more before arrival: 90% refund.
Cancellations between 90 and 71 days before arrival: 80% refund.
Cancellations with 70 days or less before arrival are not eligible for a refund.

Other Conditions

Reservations made more than 3 months prior to the check-in date must include a minimum prepayment of 30% of the total amount to be confirmed.
Reservations requested less than 3 months in advance must be paid in full (100%) at the time of booking.
Any outstanding balance, if applicable, must be paid no later than 70 days prior to the check-in date.
For groups of more than 15 people, special conditions regarding payment amounts, cancellation deadlines, and refund percentages may apply. These conditions will be communicated in advance at the time of booking and defined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the characteristics of each group.

No-show Policy

If a passenger does not show up on the day of their reservation at the refuge or campsite, Vertice S.A. reserves the right to release the reserved spaces and offer them for resale, without any refund.If the guest has a reservation for more than one night, failure to show up on the first day will result in the automatic cancellation of the entire stay, unless the passenger has informed their travel agency or operator via email that they will arrive the following day (in such case, the first night will still be forfeited).
Vertice S.A. and Great Chile are not responsible for modifications, cancellations, or no-shows resulting from circumstances beyond their control, such as weather conditions, road closures, natural events, flight disruptions, transfer delays, missed boat or catamaran departures, social or political demonstrations, or any other external factor outside the will and control of Vertice S.A. and Great Chile. We strongly recommend that passengers purchase travel insurance to cover such eventualities.
